Q means “bend”, it is for the yield strength.
Q235 is the minimum yield strength 235 Mpa.
Q355 is the minimum yield strength 355 Mpa.
Q235 and Q345 as the popular construction steel materials
They are divided into 4 grades, ABCD. Such as Q235A , Q235B, Q235C, Q235D.
ABCD refers to the impact test grade. A means that it has not been impact tested. B means that it has been impact tested at 20 ° C temperature. C means that it has been impact tested at 0 ° C temperature. And D means that it has been impact tested at low temperature of -20 ° C.
Q235A&Q235B, Q345A&Q345B are the most popular.
Q345 is mainly used for main steel frame. Like column, beam, wind speed resistant column, crane girder...
Q235 is mainly used for secondary steel frame. Like tie bar, brace, vertical/horizontal support...
The choice of material can be according to the design of the structure of your specific circumstances. For example, if the structure is intensity control structure, Q345 can be considered. If the structure is stiffness control structure, you can choose Q235. The price Q345 is a little higher, but because of its high strength, the material can be saved. And the price difference is not great.
